DESCRIPTION:Course commitment  \nThe Youth Mental Health First Aid training is a two day course. Participants must commit to attendance of both days. \n\nTuesday\, 12 September 2023\, 8:30am to 4:30pm\nand\nTuesday\, 19 September 2023\, 8:30am to 4:30pm\n\nCourse Trainer \nCortney Smyth\, Mental Health First Aid Instructor \nCatering \nTea/coffee/biscuits for morning and afternoon tea.  Lunch provided. \nAbout the Training \nThe Youth Mental Health First Aid course equips adults who teach\, care for or support young people\, with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to a young person experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. \nDeveloped for adults who support young people aged 12-18\, Youth Mental Health First Aid training teaches participants how to provide initial support to a young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem\, or mental health crisis\, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves\, using a practical\, evidence-based Action Plan. \nThe course provides an overview of mental illnesses\, risk factors\, prevalence\, and impact before taking a closer look at the common mental health problems including: anxiety\, depression\, suicidal thought and behaviours\, self-harm\, eating disorders and substance use. Anyone can have a conversation that may save a life.
