This unique performance ‘nest’ will present the original songs, art, and poetry of acclaimed performers Jeunae Elita, Amy Ocean and Tamsin Kerr.
Jeunae Elita is a creative polymath whose performances are infused with a ‘heavy Venus energy, like fragrant petals on ruins’ and reeking of ‘a strange religiosity, while oscillating between the arcane, and the fecund”. The boundary-pushing artist blends original music, vocal soundscapes, songwriting, fine art, and poetic expression.
Fellow songbird, Amy Ocean, is a multi-award-winning spoken work poet who captivates listeners with a powerful authenticity and driven passion. Her audience is invited on a journey of emotional amplification and lyrical alliteration as she uses song and sonnets to encompass her experiences as an emotionally empowered human.
Renowned artist and poet Tamsin Kerr is a weaver of words and visual storytelling. A creator whose artistry flows across spaces, stages, and pages, Tamsin’s work shares the song of the earth and the challenge of folding complex ideas into short poems.
The evening concert will be hosted by Community House’s resident songstress Kate Marian Rose and supports national initiative Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Atypical Nest of Songbirds has received funding from the Noosa Council’s RADF program as part of the ‘Harmonising Spaces’ project- an initiative that supports hinterland venues to expand as flourishing creative hubs by showcasing creative collaboration between multiple local artists through storytelling, poetry, original songs and visual and textile art. The event encourages a listening audience and is suitable for 16 years +. All welcome.
Doors open at 6pm. Music from 7pm. The Lawson Shed is located at 1 Memorial Drive, Pomona.
